Belgium Cycle to Shops Campaign (EU)

In September 2012 one of Belgium’s largest supermarket chains, Delhaize, launched a national campaign to encourage more people to use their bicycles for shopping trips. Delhaize worked with Belgian cycling user groups, GRACQ and Fietsersbond, to develop the campaign which includes promotions to customers and staff, improved bicycle parking and incentives for staff who ride to work.  

Improvement and Promotion of Bike Mobility: A Specific Marketing Strategy (EU)

This case study, published in 2010, examines the methods used to encourage cycling in the small Italian city of Bolzano where about 30% of journeys are made by bicycle. In 2000 the City began implementing a coherent network of cycling infrastructure, a bicycle parking strategy, a wayfinding strategy and a marketing strategy to encourage more people to cycle.

This second edition, Collection of Cycle Concepts 2012, updates the field, featuring new challenges and the latest knowledge. Collection of Cycle Concepts 2012 is not intended to be a summary of Danish road standards, but to provide inspiration and motivation for creating more and safer bicycle traffic – in Denmark as well as the rest of the world. It is published in English.
