This wiki was created by students at Northeastern University and Portland State University based on a summer program to investigate the urban environment of the Netherlands in 2011.
Evaluation of Narrow Bridge Treatments for Cyclist Safety (Australia)

In November 2012 consultants SKM finalised a report for the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads which examined the effectiveness of treatments on narrow bridges to improve the safety of bicycle riders. The project tested the use of ‘Watch for Bicycles’ signs, ‘No Overtaking on Bridge’ signs, and Bicycle Awareness Zone (BAZ) pavement symbols. The findings recommend changes to the Australian guidelines relating to narrow bridge treatments for cyclists.
Cycle Network Signing: Sustrans Technical Information Note (UK)

This information has been prepared to provide assistance for people involved with signing cycle and shared use routes and links within a cycle network. In particular, it offers guidance on the: recommended standard of signs, signs required and where they should be located, monitoring and maintenance of signs and sign posts and sign board details.

AS1742.9-2000 Bicycle Facilities specifies the requirements for the signs, pavement markings and other devices to be applied to bicycle facilities both on the road and on paths separate from the road, either for the exclusive use of bicycles or joint use with other users. Includes recommendations for guide signs and other navigational information for cyclists.

In May 2012 the City of Knox established a working group to develop a consistent Bicycle Wayfinding and Route System for the Melbourne metropolitan area. The group will be working towards developing a standard guideline for bicycle wayfinding and a route system in metropolitan Melbourne.
Australian Bicycle Network Signage Strategies

The following list provides links to signage strategies produced by the Queensland Government, City of Sydney and Brisbane City Council. Graphic Path Markings (EU)

In 2008-09 P-06 Atelier, a communication and environmental design studio, based in Lisbon, Portugal was contracted by Lisbon City Council to develop a series of path markings for the city's main bicycle path. The markings incorporate directional, positioning and distance information with poetry and graphics.
VicRoads Cycle Note 6: Signing of Rural Training Circuits (Australia)

A number of cities and towns in rural and regional Victoria have rural road circuits that cyclists use on a regular basis for training and racing.
In order to advise motorists that they may encounter cyclists on these circuits, VicRoads has developed four signs that may be used to sign rural cycling circuits. They are described in this 2000 Cycle Note.
