Cycle Tourism Resource Kit for Regional and Rural Communities (Australia)

The cycle tourism resource kit is designed as a 'one stop shop' to provide the key information, planning templates and contacts regional and rural communities will need to develop cycle tourism in their area. It includes resources to help plan, construct, develop, market and evaluate cycle tourism projects.

There are four kits on the website:

THE FIRST STEP Don't assume that your region or community is ideally suited to developing Cycle Tourism. THE FIRST STEPS will take you through the process of assessing the "potential" of your region to successfully deliver high quality cycle tourism experiences and product. This Toolkit includes research of existing successful case studies of (e.g. Melrose, Munda Biddi Trail, South East Queensland, Murray to Mountains Rail Trail and Tasmania), how to build your "Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat" analysis (SWOT) as well as a range of planning templates to help you get the wheels turning on the ground.

TOURISM A toolkit that delivers on brand, product and market development as well as event design...designed to assist small business operators, regional and state Tourism Organisations and local tourism development professionals to maximise the benefits of the cycle tourism market.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTHORITY Perhaps the most important partner when developing cycle tourism is Local Government. What your local government authority needs and how to get the best outcomes, are covered here -including funding, strategic planning, trail design, signage and construction standards and maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE CENTRE Your ability to look back and learn is critical when moving forward. We provide existing research publications, some hints on how to conduct your own research as well as a listing of case studies from both Australia and overseas.
